I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Gerontology, Department of Ageing and Work at the University of Vechta, Germany.
I received my doctorate from the University of Vechta, where I worked in the BMBF (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung) funded Project "Integrierte Kompetenzentwicklung im Handwerk (In-K-Ha)", which explored competence management within small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the German Craft Sector.
In my dissertation I specifically looked at the group of older workers and investigated the strategies and determinants of SMEs in regard to developing the competences of their ageing workforces. Currently I am working on questions in regard to ageism in the labour market, inequalities in retirement pathways, sustainable labour market policies as well as post-retirement employment.
Prior to my position in Vechta I worked as a Project Manager/Researcher for the Bertelsmann Foundation out of their Brussels and Gütersloh Offices. Here I was involved in several projects focussing on ageing work forces and extending working lives. I studied Sociology and Media Science at the Universities of Köln and Bochum as well as Sociology/European Societies at the Free University Berlin.
